Ashton Matyi

Ashton joined Ostroff Associates in 2018 and has over a decade of experience working in and around New York State government. Since joining the firm, she has advocated on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, economic development organizations, and not-for-profit corporations before state government and regulatory agencies.

Before coming to OA, Ashton served as Government Relations Associate at the Retail Council of New York State, where she lobbied on behalf of over 5,000 retailers covering a wide range of issues including sales tax, labor and employee relations, consumer protection, and environment.

Ashton previously served as Legislative Representative for District Council 37 (DC 37), New York City’s largest public employee union where she worked on behalf of over 150,000 members and proudly supervised the student intern program. She began her career in government working for the New York State Assembly, first as a Legislative Aide to Assemblymember Susan V. John and then as a Community Relations Representative in the Brooklyn, NY office of Assemblymember Joan L. Millman.

She holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from the College of Saint Rose, Albany. In 2021, Ashton was selected as one of Albany’s “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” by City and State magazine in recognition of her professional achievements.
