Ostroff Associates Works With Local Charities To Give Back This Holiday Season

This holiday season, Ostroff Associates has continued our longstanding tradition of giving back to our community by partnering with five local charities to make a difference in the lives of those in need in the Capital Region. This year, Ostroff Associates donated hundreds of food and household items, toiletries bus passes, toys, and winter clothing for men, women and children. In distributing our donations, we had the privilege of meeting many of the deserving families receiving these items and got to see firsthand the important work being done by these charitable organizations. Ostroff Associates embraces the spirit of giving by supporting numerous charitable causes and local organizations throughout the year. We’re grateful for this opportunity to serve our community and look forward to building on our charitable giving in the New Year.

‍The charities Ostroff Associations collaborated with this holiday season include:

• Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS) – HATAS was formed in 1924 with the mission to end homelessness within Albany County and the Capital Region. They meet the immediate need for shelter, food and clothing in addition to addressing the long-term need for affordable housing and employment.
• Capital City Rescue Mission (CCRM)– CCRM provides the food, clothing, shelter and counseling necessary to help those in need get back on their feet and off the streets. CCRM serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, 365 days a year without cost to the homeless and struggling residents of the community. They also provide emergency shelter and clean, usable clothing us supplied free of charge.
• South End Children’s Café – The mission of the South End Children’s Cafe is to impact food insecurity, address food equality and food justice, enhance academic success and positively influence the physical and mental health of children residing in the South End of Albany by offering free, healthy meals along with homework help, academic enrichment, mentoring, exercise and participation in the arts Monday through Friday. Community volunteers join the children daily, assisting with school projects, homework, goal setting and acquiring needed resources for good health and overall wellness.
• Grassroots Givers – Grassroots Givers makes the connection between the needs in our community and those who have resources to share. Their focus is to always give with dignity, to empower individuals and families who are trying to improve their lives. They share hundreds of thousands of donations with those in need through their community store and book project.
• Homeless Action Committee (HAC) – The Homeless Action Committee is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless people and advocating for permanent solutions to the problems of homelessness.  HAC operates permanent Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing for people who had been living on the streets for years and who have alcoholism.  This SRO has helped countless people to get off the streets, have a home, and begin making changes in their lives.  HAC is also the proud operators of the Outreach Van program which assists hundreds of people on the streets each year by providing them with compassionate human contact, a listening ear, food, clothing, blankets, referrals and transportation to area services.
